COMPANY CARS – ADVISORY FUEL RATES FROM 1ST JUNE 2013

       rates from 1st June 2013        

The following rates apply to all journeys on or after 1 June 2013 until further notice. For one month from the date of change, employers may use either the previous or new current rates, as they choose. Employers may therefore make or require supplementary payments if they so wish, but are under no obligation to do either.

The new rates below apply from 1st June 2013.

Hybrid cars are treated as petrol cars for this purpose.

Company Cars -Hints & Tips

 – If you change your vehicle you need to inform HMRC if you want your tax code updating. Also inform your accountant.

 – There are a number of green schemes intended to encourage employers to make arrangements for their staff to travel to work by more environmentally beneficial means – including Cycle Schemes, Works Bus Service and Business travel.

 – If you have high business mileage, it may be better to use your own car and claim ‘mileage’ from your employer

  – Tax-free parking is a must!

 – If you are on the borderline of “lower paid”, think about setting up a contribution for the use of the car, to keep on the right side of £8,500
