Companies House is to introduce a new WebFiling account to increase functionality and security when businesses manage their records online.
The move is the first step enabling a single sign-in across all Companies House services as part of the ongoing digitalisation of government processes. The new WebFiling account will provide improved security features, including multi-factor authentication, while allowing businesses greater freedom to self-manage their Companies House account. New benefits include:
- the ability to link your company to your WebFiling account to give you more control over your filings
- the ability to digitally authorise people to file on your behalf on WebFiling, and to remove authorisation
- easily seeing who’s digitally authorised to file for your company
- an option to sign up to emails to help you with the running of your company
Those who file records for more than one company will be able to do so from a single sign-in, and WebFiling will allow for online authorisation of directors to file for the company and digitalise the incorporation process for new companies. Find and update company information service accounts will not be affected by these changes at this time.
The move marks a key milestone in Companies House achieving objectives set in its 2020-2025 strategy.
