A comedy afternoon raised an amazing £75,000 for Beechwood Cancer Care Centre – smashing last year’s result by £15,000.
Hundreds of men enjoyed the Man@Manchester event that was held on Black Friday, with Paul Sinha topping the bill – best known for his role on The Chase.
He was joined by fellow stand-up acts Gary Marshall, Dan Nightingale, Justin Moorhouse, Matt McCarthy and compere Colin Manford – brother to Jason.
The day, which is sponsored by Brown Shipley Private Banking and Pareto, included a three- course meal, auction, a raffle and gift stalls, has already run for two successful years at The Palace Hotel.
The first Man@Manchester event raised more than £30,000 and last year that was doubled to £60,000– making it the most successful charity event to date for Beechwood. And this year continued the successful fundraising trend reaching £75,000 – the biggest single amount the charity has raised at an event.
Angela Gray, fundraising manager at the Stockport charity, said: “We are absolutely overwhelmed by the amount of money that was raised at this year’s event – it is absolutely phenomenal. It was great to see so much generosity, the Christmas spirit was really alive.
“It was a great day, with fantastic comedians, who really filled the room with laughter. Thank you to all our supporters, sponsors and patrons for making it a day to remember.”
