Clarke Nicklin, the Cheadle based accountancy firm behind the Stockport business awards have launched a new charitable quiz evening…….with a difference!
Rather than the usual questions and answers, teams will need to use all their senses and a bit of imagination if they want to win “The GREAT BIG quizzical event 2014”.
Clarke Nicklin Business Development Director Ben Poland was behind the idea to raise funds for the Childline schools volunteer service, he explains:
“Pub quizzes offer a great way to raise money for charity but these days it’s too easy to cheat and the same old faces seem to win every time, so we wanted to come up with something a bit different to give everyone a chance and to eliminate the possibility of looking up the answers on a smartphone – in fact we are encouraging people to use their phones in some rounds – Basically we’ve made it cheat proof! The exact details of each round are a closely guarded secret but I can guarantee a few surprises!”
There is a serious side too – proceeds from the event will go to support Childline’s schools volunteer service and (appropriately for exam conditions) will be held at Stockport Grammar school who are providing their facilities for free.
Ben added
“We’re so grateful to the grammar school for allowing us to use their facilities as this means more money will go to charity, everyone’s been so supportive including Robinsons who have laid on some free beer”.
The funds will help childline’s aim to visit every primary school in the country to let children know how to get in touch with childline and to educate them in an age appropriate way about the different types of child abuse.
The event will be held on 10th of July at Stockport Grammar school and whilst it is primarily aimed at teams of business people, anyone can enter a team of four for £60 which includes food. There will be a subsidised cash bar, music and networking opportunities too.
