Clarke Nicklin Chartered Accountants have acted as advisors on the recent sale of Macclesfield-based The Cheshire Cheese Company.
A Clarke Nicklin client since the business was first established, The Cheshire Cheese Company has now been acquired by Nantwich-based family-owned cheese producer, Joseph Heler.
Co-founder Simon Spurrell will retain a stake in the company following the acquisition and remain at the helm as managing director. All The Cheshire Cheese Company’s head office, production and warehouse staff will be retained while 14 additional full and part-time jobs will be created. Mr Spurrell commented:
“This strategic alliance has come at a very important time for the business. post-Brexit legislation meant our plans to operate in mainland Europe were halted – this arrangement will see us able to grow with increased production and fulfilment capacity and a worldwide reach.”
Andrew Baggott, managing partner of Clarke Nicklin who led the business sale, added:
“I am delighted that Clarke Nicklin have advised on this transaction, which is a major part of the businesses strategic development. Part of Clarke Nicklin’s objectives are to advise and support our clients throughout their business journey, and this is a perfect example where we advised on the initial set up of the business, and have supported throughout its progress culminating in providing the corporate finance advice on this disposal. This is a great strategic fit for both Cheshire Cheese company and Heler’s, and we are excited for all concerned and the future of the business.”
