
Independent hospital group, Circle Health, have acquired BMI Healthcare, who run 50 private hospitals in the UK, including The Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle.
Circle has committed to a multi-million-pound programme of investment in BMI’s hospitals, including in estates, technology and staff. Circle Health currently operates two hospitals in the UK and two China, offering innovative rehabilitation and integrated care services.

Medical Properties Trust Inc. (MPT) has also acquired the real estate interests of 30 BMI hospitals from former parent company, Hospital Topco Ltd, in a £1.5 billion deal. MPT will continue to lease back properties to BMI Healthcare. The sales form part of a recapitalisation programme by BMI Healthcare.

BMI Healthcare are the largest private operator of acute hospitals in the UK. BMI and Circle Health will continue to operate independently until the Competition and Markets Authority concludes a routine investigation into the acquisition.
