This year visitors to the The Davenport Arms, Woodford, will be abe to Christmas shop form the comfort of the bar as the pub prepares to hold their first ‘Table Top Christmas Market’.
Landlady Yvonne Hallworth explained that the whole thing started out as a little bit of a joke between our regulars who asked:
“Wouldn’t it be great if we could stay in the pub and do all our Christmas shopping here!”

Yvonne is the 4th Generation of Hallworth’s to run the Robinsons pub. The family has now worked hand in hand with the Cheshire family brewer for over 80 years. ‘The Thief’s Neck’, as it’s known to locals, is celebrating a fantastic 2013 having attained the extraordinary recognition of being featured in CAMRA’s national ‘Good Beer Guide’ for 27 consecutive years.
Speaking of the event, Yvonne said:
“Woodford is a small community so we are reaching out to local traders and businesses from around the area to come and get involved. A large number of the stands are from our regulars and their families. We will be holding a Christmas raffle to raise money for Cancer Research. There will be mulled wine and an excellent assortment of hand-pulled cask ales.”
The market will be held on 30th November from 7pm at the Davenport Arms, Woodford. Attendees can expect handmade Christmas cards, jewellery, handbags, candles and sweet treats all amidst roaring fires and great atmosphere.
Yvonne added:
“We would like to extend the invitation to everyone. Come down and get into the festive spirit with us.
