As the flat season galloped into Chester, Marketing Stockport members were in high spirits this week at the first fixture of the season – part of the Chester May Festival.
Hosted by Marketing Stockport, 19 race-goers travelled in style, courtesy of Belle Vue Travel’s luxury coach, chauffeured by the lovely Matthew with refreshments ably served by Clarke Nicklin’s Ben Poland!
The sun shone on what proved to be the hottest and sunniest day of the year so far. Copies of the Racing Post were shared around and form studied while others chose their favourites based on the jockey (Chelsea and Laura) or by fanciful names (Helen & Ben).
Some had done their homework (Paul and Stephen). There were winners and losers all round although sadly, no one quite enough to order a Sunseeker yacht or fly home alongside Dubai’s Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum GBE, founder of Maktoum family–owned Godolphin racing stable.
Stuart Bradley from Trust had a great day: “The Marketing Stockport race day was an absolute winner. From the quality Belle Vue coach that ferried us there, to the blazing sunshine that shone all day, and the fantastic company of other like-minded Stockport businesses…everything came together for a brilliant day out.”
Graham Saul, managing director of Cloud 9 Hosts and Tectanet said: “What a day! Fab weather, and great company. Just a shame my horses were ringers from Blackpool beach. I’m already looking forward to next year!”
A great day out with lovely people from members – Midshire, Radisson Blu, Cloud 9 Hosts, Dawn Creative, Trust, Hallidays, Amshire and NK Theatre Arts.
And, after a 10 second debate, we will be arranging to go to the Chester Cup next year – dates to follow.
