The initial phase of the multi-million pound investment programme will see the construction of a 30,000 sq ft office building to accommodate the company’s growing workforce. Around 100 jobs are anticipated to be created over the next two years.
Councillor Iain Roberts, Executive Member for Economic Development and Regeneration at Stockport Council, said:
“It’s great to see the start on site of this exciting project, both for CDL and for Stockport. I’m really pleased to see this local company going from strength to strength, creating jobs and in turn benefiting the whole borough. I wish them the very best for their continued success in Stockport.”
CDL provides software to some of the UK’s biggest insurance retailers and price-comparison websites. Quotes generated by Hastings Direct, Tesco Bank or websites like www.comparethemarket.com and www.gocompare.com have all been powered by CDL systems. Since moving to Strata House at King’s Reach in 2006, CDL has doubled its workforce to over 450 and continues to expand steadily.
Group Chairman, Tom Hogg, said:
“CDL has been based in Stockport for 35 years and has strong ties to the local area. In order to meet the growing demand for our insurance products, based on the increasing popularity of telematics and mobile platforms, it was necessary that we continue to expand. This new campus means that we can continue to offer new IT jobs to people in the local area, meeting the needs of our customers and investing in the town that has been our home since 1977.”
As well as taking on graduates and apprentices, CDL is recruiting experienced people across all technical fields, from software developers to server engineers. The new intake will support a number of projects currently underway, including the migration towards virtualization, expansion of the company’s data storage capacity and new developments taking advantage of mobile platforms and other new technologies to deliver broking services.
CoreM has been appointed as the construction management company for the scheme, which was designed by Edge Architects to enhance the urban landscape of King’s Reach and complement its riverside setting.
