Stockport-based software house, CDL, has donated funds to Hazel Grove a cappella group, Affinity Show Choir, supporting them in their bid to boost membership and attract aspiring singers from the local community.
The all-female choir, which came to national attention last year in ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, used the donation provided by CDL to fund a singing workshop in a drive to recruit new members. Attendees were given access to expert coaching from award-winning musical directors and the opportunity to expand their skills and learn new singing techniques.
The day proved to be a success, with the group gaining four new members following the workshop and adding a new, contemporary song to their repertoire, providing the choir with more opportunities to perform at events in the community and raise their local profile.
Clare Webster, Fundraising Co-ordinator at Affinity Show Choir, commented: “We are a not-for-profit organisation, relying on membership subs and occasional prize winnings, so CDL’s contribution was very gratefully received. The extra funds will allow us to keep supporting and enabling local women to contribute to their local community, and we are delighted to welcome the new members to our group. We’d like to pass on our sincere thanks to CDL for providing this generous grant.”
Melissa Johnson, CDL Group Director, added: “Supporting local groups in the Stockport area is something we are very passionate about at CDL, so I am delighted to be able to provide our support to the Affinity Show Choir. The group is a real asset to the community and it is fantastic that our donation has made a difference. I am confident that we will be seeing lots of great things from Affinity Show Choir in the future.”
