Stockport based C&C Insurance Group are supporting young people with careers advice as they explore their future career options.
As a volunteer with the Insurance Institute of Manchester, Personal Lines Manager at C&C Insurance Brokers Eleanor Moore’s role includes being an Education Champion for the Chartered Insurance Institute, going into schools and colleges to speak to students about the careers available within the insurance sector.

Eleanor recently attended The Queen Elizabeth Hall in Oldham for a careers fair entitled “Changing Horizons”. The aim of the event was to bring careers to life by interacting with people who worked in lots of different areas, including border control, robotics and of course, insurance.
Eleanor attended along with Brad Jackson from Catalyst Claims Management Ltd., Rebecca Vidler from Co-op Insurance and Mark Farrant from McLarens Loss Adjusters.
Eleanor explained,
“This was my first event of this nature but we soon settled into a routine of introducing ourselves, giving an overview of what insurance was in a way that they could relate to, asking for their input and playing the ‘Discover Risk’ game”. The game engages the students by giving them a bit of background to a story and then asking them to plot a scenario on a grid based on the likelihood of an event occurring and the potential impact in order to understand ‘risk’.
“It was great to see the children starting to understand risk and exposure and there were a couple of teams who got all of the cards in the right place, which was very impressive. Some of the children started to think of their own examples and we talked them through in detail. This was very rewarding as it was a demonstration that they had fully understood what they had been taught.”
