Stockport carers braved the cold weather to support a national Carers Rights Day event.
Representatives from Stockport Council, Signpost Stockport for Carers and NHS Stockport were at the event to give carers the chance to find out about their rights and make them aware of help and support available to them. Members of Stockport FLAG (For Local Advice & Guidance) were also around to offer advice.
Information was available on issues such as:
Claiming benefits Coping with the pressures of rising living costs Staying healthy during the cold winter months
Carers were also given details of where to go for expert help and advice over the festive period.
Councillor Daniel Hawthorne, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Adult Care Services, said: “I was delighted so many people braved the extremely cold weather to find out their rights as carers. Supporting carers is a key Council priority and our partnership work with Signpost Stockport for Carers, FLAG and NHS Stockport means that we can continue our work in making sure all carers know where to go for the practical help, support and advice that they need.”
The Carers Rights Day event was held on Friday 30th November.
