Pure Insights are aiming to make Christmas less lonely in Stockport this year by providing a scrumptious Christmas Dinner and get together on Christmas Day for up to 50 young care leavers and their children.
Many care leavers spend Christmas Day alone in bedsits, flats or even sofa surfing.
Pure Insight’s Christmas Dinner is part of the national Christmas Dinner project led by famous poet and care leaver Lemn Sissay. The project is for young people leaving care – young people who grew up in children’s homes or foster care, so do not have support networks to return to at Christmas.
Pure Insight’s Christmas Dinner is for young care leavers age 16 + who would otherwise be alone or feeling alone on Christmas Day. A team of volunteers, including Marketing Stockport member Michelle Hay, provide a yummy Christmas Dinner, presents and transport all carefully prepared and gifted by volunteers and local people. They also have a number of young care experienced parents bringing their babies and small children.
Michelle said:
“We have a festive, fun day and create a place of connection and belonging for all involved but we can’t do it without the dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of the people of Stockport.
“We need to raise funds to give these young people a Christmas Day they deserve; please help us by donating to our Just Giving campaign here
“Thank you – you will be making a difference that will last a life-time.”
Cheadle’s Together Trust Together Trust have kindly given Pure their venue on Christmas eve and day.
