A recent campaign to recruit more foster carers for older children has helped increase enquiries from Stockpprt residents.
A series of eye-catching adverts displayed on a billboard on the A6 and an open evening in February helped to nearly quadruple the number of expressions of interest in fostering from the same period in the previous year.
Councillor Kevin Dowling, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Children & Young People, said: “We are committed to recruiting more foster carers in Stockport for children of all ages. However, like most areas across the country we are in particular need of foster carers for older children.
“We are always interested in hearing from anyone who is thinking of considering fostering. Fostering is an extremely rewarding experience and I would urge anyone interested in learning more about it to contact the Council for more information.”
Stockport Council’s Fostering Service team was rated as ‘outstanding’ in a recent Ofsted inspection.
