Stockport Council are encouraging Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) groups to complete the ‘State of the Sector’ survey. This valuable research aims to better understand the sector and services they provide in Stockport.
The last survey in 2017 provided valuable evidence of the important social and economic contribution the VCSE sector brings. The survey is being repeated now as there have been significant changes within the sector, particularly as COVID-19 has shaken up the way we live and how the sector delivers its services.
The survey runs for ten weeks until 25th September and VSCE groups who complete it will be entered into a prize draw to win up to £1,000 for their organisation. The survey, which takes around 25 minutes, can be completed online here.
The State of the Sector is a partnership research initiative between 10GM (a joint venture to support the VCSE sector across Greater Manchester), Greater Manchester Centre for Voluntary Organisation (GMCVO), Stockport Council, Bury VCFA, Trafford Council and Wigan Council. Leading the research on behalf of the partnership will be the University of Salford. The research will gain a picture of every local authority area, and also Greater Manchester as a whole. The report will be finalised and ready to share publicly in Jan/Feb 2021

We are working collaboratively with our communities as part of our One Stockport initiative and recognise that everyone has an important part to play in shaping future plans for the borough. We have commissioned this survey with Sector3 and our partners across GM to gain a clearer picture of the importance, shape and needs of the sector as we go forward.
“We know that since the last State of the Sector Survey in 2017 there have been significant changes for the sector, particularly related to COVID-19. We need to know how these changes have affected our sector to enable us to continue to back them up in the superb work they are doing to support the people of Stockport.”
