Winter may have hung around a little too long for most of us this year but now that spring is finally making an appearance there is definitely a positive buzz around Stockport and its business community, according to the team here at Marketing Stockport.
Last week Hallidays, Business Advisors & Accountants, played host for the first time at Marketing Stockport’s April meeting and, despite the early start for many, the atmosphere was buoyant with many member businesses reporting a good start to the year.
There were many ‘firsts’ last year including the Stockport Business Awards and Stockport Expo – both great opportunities to showcase the many diverse and successful companies in Stockport and make new business connections and both hoping to be bigger and better in 2013.
This year we are introducing the Marketing Stockport Masters – a chance for budding ‘Tigers’ to show their stripes outside of the boardroom while the slightly more mature ‘Great White Sharks’ sharpen their tees and put their leadership skills into practice on the greens of Stockport Golf Club. Save the day – 19th September followed by a prize giving dinner in the 19th hole.
Like all great venues, Stockport Golf Club serve Robinson’s beers who this September celebrate 175 years in Stockport, an occasion marked by the opening of their new conferencing facilities, brewery and visitor centre – a fantastic testament to the hard work of 6 generations of one family showing commitment to Stockport, its heritage and its future.
Stockport is also the location of choice for many UK wide brands: Sky TV took a 15 year lease on office space in St Peter’s Square development; Welspun – producers of the world class Christy towels for Wimbledon, the Ashes and the Rugby Lions – chose to move across the boundary from Hyde into offices at Park Square; and after 166 years in Manchester, Hallidays chose King’s Reach as their new North West base.
With around 15,000 businesses from micros, to SME’s, multi-nationals and globals, MAN Diesel to market traders and adidas to ad agencies, we can be proud to be in Stockport – we are all in great company.
