Permission has been granted for Redrock’s Light Cinema to open a bowling alley in a vacant unit at the development, the Manchester Evening News has reported.
Stockport Council approved the application for a change of use of the unit as it has proved difficult to let as a dining or retail space. The six lane bowling alley will be run by the Light Cinema and will be accessed through the main lobby and build on the cinema’s success in the town.
The new 48 ft lanes will be only bowling alley in Stockport Town Centre. The previous lanes at Grand Central closed eight years ago, and the building was demolished in 2018.
Redrock opened in 2017 and is home to Pizza Express, Zizzi, Berretto Lounge and Mangobean, as well as the Light Cinema and a gym.
The Light Cinema recently celebrated reaching the milestone of one million visitors, and opened two additional screens to meet demand.
