Email parking fines are one in the latest of scams that are designed to infect your computer and hold you to ransom.
Following on from the recent articles from Amshire warning against fraudulent and potentially fatal scams to access your data, the latest seems to be focussing on email parking fines.
Amshire warn:
“The email appears to come from ‘CPS Enforcement Northern Ltd’ and has several hyperlinks to click onto. DO NOT CLICK THESE – as your machine will become infected.
“This is a variant of the ransomware Cryptolocker. If the links are opened, they may appear not to do anything. However, behind the scenes these will run a script that will encrypt all files/folders you have access to and demand payment to unlock them.
“If you’re unsure whether an email is legitimate or not, please report this to Amshire Support on 0330 2020 340 in the first instance.
“Amshire’s advice – DELETE the email.”
