Staff engagement is key to achieving its ambitions for growth, according to accountancy practice Bennett Verby.
The Manchester and Stockport-based accountancy firm is investing time and money to improve staff engagement as part of a 3-year growth strategy, often one of the last things companies want to tackle when focusing on growth.
Research has shown that engagement and productivity are intrinsically linked and can have a positive impact, not only on an individual business but on the entire UK economy.
For Bennett Verby, the challenge lies in identifying the opportunities to increase engagement and improve performance.
Bernard Verby, Founder and CEO of Bennett Verby commented: “We know from experience that when the business grows, everyone throughout the business experiences growing pains. So we know the importance of making sure everyone in the firm, from the C-suite to the reception desk, not only feels connected to the goals of the business, but understands their responsibility in helping us achieve them.”
Working with Manchester-based business-growth consultancy NXO, Bennett Verby interviewed a cross-section of their workforce anonymously. The interviews revealed which aspects of work life could be improved, and how these might affect staff productivity.
Moving forward, Bennett Verby is looking to take on six new recruits to meet the demands of its growing client base and are committed to demonstrating how employee engagement impacts their bottom-line, and responding to this information to improve staff engagement and productivity.
