The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is hosting a series of webinars to help businesses understand the process of adopting new safety standards and marketing following Brexit.
The UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) marking rules replace the Conformité Européenne (CE) mark and will come into force from 1 January 2023 following the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union.
From January 2023, manufacturers will need to use the UKCA marking in order to place goods on the market in England, Scotland and Wales. There are different rules for Northern Ireland, which retains regulatory alignment with the EU and will continue to use the CE mark – BEIS events for requirements for selling goods in Northern Ireland are also planned.
The UKCA regime seeks to ensure consumers are protected from unsafe, and non-compliant goods. BEIS webinars will give businesses an overview of new responsibilities and regulations, with webinars covering a range of topics, including routes for assessment, labelling and dedicated Q&A sessions for more specific queries.
All sessions will be recorded and the recording will be made available via the Microsoft Teams link sent upon registering to attend, even if you are not able to do so live.
The UKCA webinars are taking place throughout June and July, with future dates also set to be added ahead of the January 2023 deadline. A full schedule, and details of how to book your place to attend can be found on the government website here.
