Many businesses have already entered or been nominated for the Stockport Business Awards 2013 but whether you win or not, taking part can be a winning process for businesses.
Marketing Stockport members Tony Hughes, CEO of Hughes Safety Showers, provided some sound advice:
“I believe that entering awards is good practice, whatever the outcome.
Completing an entry form provides the opportunity to review your business &
processes, your staff and your focus.
“It helps to sharpen your business pencil and your staff.
So win or lose, entering an award can have a positive impact on your business”.
Another topic often raised by our members is access to finance and funding. While many companies have
openly criticised the Governments Funding for Lending Scheme (FFLS) as being inaccessible, it is encouraging for local business owners to know that Marketing Stockport member Windmill Tapes and Labels has benefitted from the Government backed Funding for Lending Scheme at its manufacturing business in Birdhall Lane, Cheadle.
Speaking ‘Live’ on Bloomberg TV, Windmill Tapes Chief Executive Andrew Southern explained how his business has been able to expand and develop by acquiring new printing equipment featuring the latest technology with £600,000 funded through the FFLS. The new technology will save the business money and allow them to become more competitive in a challenging sector.
Windmill Tapes and labels is another example of a long established, family owned, successful Stockport based business still evolving; their main growth strategy is through acquisition and they are currently building a new factory alongside their current premises to cater for future growth and expansion.
