A vaccination programme is now underway in Stockport to help protect people against Covid-19 and flu this winter, led by NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care (NHS GM) and Stockport Council.
People aged 65 and over, carers and pregnant women are now also able to book their autumn/winter Covid-19 booster through the National Booking System at local clinics throughout Stockport, after being contacted by their GP, or by attending a walk-in appointment at the One Stockport Hub. The new booster vaccine targets more recent variants of the virus than previous iterations of the jab.
All adults aged 50, along with frontline health and social care workers, people aged 5 to 49 in a clinical risk group, and people aged 16 to 49 who are carers are all set to be invited to have the autumn/winter Covid-19 booster in the coming weeks. A drive to vaccinated care home residents in the borough is already underway.
A limited number of walk-in appointments for the Covid-19 vaccine will be available at the One Stockport Hub (OSH), Mersey Square, Stockport, SK1 1RA, subject to availability. The clinic at the hub will be open every Monday and Tuesday, from 9am to 5pm and on Saturdays from 9.30am to 5pm. Please note it will be closed on Saturday, 8 October.
The annual flu vaccination campaign will also begin in the coming weeks. Free flu jabs will be available to people aged over 65, children aged two or three, primary school aged children, people in clinical risk groups and pregnant women. All carers are eligible along with NHS staff.
From mid-October, 2022, people aged 50 to 64 years old that aren’t in a clinical risk group will also be able to get their free flu vaccine. It is safe for the Covid-19 and the flu vaccine to be given at the same time, and we will offer both jabs to patients who want to receive them at the same time whenever we can, however this may not always be possible.
