A new exhibition, curated by arts and health charity, Arc, has launched at Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery.
Stockport Together Again will run until November 14th 2021, and showcase the resilience and creativity of Stockport residents during the pandemic. The exhibition features artwork by individual artists, studios, collectives and community groups from across the borough.
Organised by town centre-based charity, Arc, the exhibition celebrate the impact of arts on health and showcasing our lockdown creativity, with art, activities, events and more.
Arc’s Artistic Director Jacqui Wood said,
“We want to bring Stockport together, to connect through our shared experience but also just to celebrate creativity. We hope that it isn’t an end point but rather a springboard to further connection and creativity among the wide variety of artists, groups and projects in the region.”
Project Manager Anne Louise Kershaw said,
“Amidst turmoil and epic uncertainty we picked up paint brushes, pencils, bike parts and waste paper. We made paintings, hats, poems and pots. We had so much on our minds, yet we found strength and used what we had – our threads of creativity – and made wonderful things that we want everyone to see and celebrate now that restrictions have eased. We hope it leads to further collaboration in the town.”
The exhibition will be open Thursdays and Fridays 13:00-17:00, Saturdays 10:00-17:00 and Sundays 11:00-16:00 until 16:00 on Sunday November 14th at Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery on Wellington Road South in the town centre.
