The uppermost three floors of Petersgate House in Stockport town centre could be converted into 24 one- and two-bedroom apartments following a planning application by developer, RA Project 4x.
The change of use application follows the unsuccessful sale of the property in February, as reported by Place North West, by owners Proudkey Properties. The publication has now revealed that developer RA Project 4x is in negotiations to purchase the property, which had previously been set to sell for £1.8 million.
The six-storey block houses a total of 20,800 sq ft of commercial floorspace, plus 34 basement parking spaces for occupiers, and is well situated for town centre transport links via Stockport Railway Station and Stockport’s new transport interchange currently under construction on the former bus station site off the A6.
Plans put forward by prospective new owners and Drome Architects will see the third, fourth and fifth floors converted into apartments, with the lower storeys remaining as office space. Proposals will see each floor divided into eight dwellings of between 37 and 61 sqm, with a total of three two-bedroom and 21 one-bedroom apartments.
The proposals for Petersgate House add to a number of commercial to residential conversions underway in the town centre around St Peter’s Square, including at nearby Plus House by One Heritage Group, which is set to complete later this year.
