Have you ever wondered what’s going on in your area that you just don’t know about? Or fancy finding out what’s happening further afield? Stockport has a lot to shout about – and that is precisely what new publishing platform – We are Stockport – is doing.
Here to unearth the hidden gems and reveal the stories, heroes, news and experiences that make Stockport and surrounding areas a great place to live, work and play, We are Stockport is a Place campaign designed to tell the story of Stockport, through the people and places.
Importantly it also signposts to other sites that provide information, to gather together all the great activity happening across the Borough onto one site, making life easy for the user who, at the touch of a button, will find out whatever they want to know about Stockport.
Rachel Wallace, a former BBC senior journalist, was appointed last November to drive Stockport’s Place campaign forward. She’s has been working over the past few months with Ahoy to brand, design and populate the website and researching what makes Stockport a special place to live and work, who the unsung heroes are and where the stories lie. Rachel’s mission now is to make sure We are Stockport is the one stop point of information, profiling all that is great and good about the Borough.
Rachel says:
“We have great businesses, education, retail, leisure and cultural industries, as well as easy access to enviable green spaces. This, supported by strong communities who pull together to make their place great to live and work, makes Stockport the place to be. I’m looking for strong images that define the areas people live and work in, as well as news pieces and human interest stories that raise the lid on what otherwise may remain a secret.
“We live in a fantastic place, rich in culture, sport, leisure, retail, education and business opportunities; weaved together by a friendly mix of people who are proud, independent, skilled and above all committed to supporting each other. I’ve met some amazing people and now you can find out who they are, as well as information you never knew about too!”
