AeroCloud, the intelligent airport management platform founded in Macclesfield in 2019, has chosen to join a growing number of tech firms moving to Stockport town centre.
Taking a 4,500 sq ft space at Highbank House, Orbit Developments first fitted CAT A+ space in Stockport, the business adds further weight to the Stockport’s growing reputation as a hub for tech businesses.
The new office has a mix of collaborative areas and features town hall tiered seating, bespoke Dave Draws doodle wall, high end fitted break out space, exposed services and room for a growing team of around 50 staff, who are over the moon with the new office. The refurbishment was carried out by local contractor Egan Reid earlier this year and items such as new LED pendant linear lighting, shower and cycle facilities all contributed to the workspace securing an A rated EPC, acknowledging the buildings shift to a greener approach.
Rhys Owen (pictured, left, with Damian Fairbrother Jones, Chief Operating Officer at AeroCloud), Leasing Director at Orbit commented,
“The majority of the larger lettings we’ve completed in Stockport Town Centre over the last 12 to 18 months have been with tech companies. It’s clear the enviable transport links and lower costs than Manchester are key factors in attracting growing companies such as AeroCloud. But it’s important that colleagues have the facilities away from the office to engage and interact and Stockport’s burgeoning town centre with the growing bars, restaurants and entertainment options delivers on that front too. Events like Foodie Friday, Art Battle, Krazy Races and SK1 Street Party all add to the experience once the working day is over, whilst the growing restaurant scene caters for client engagements.”
George Richardson, CEO and co-founder at AeroCloud said,
“We’re a proud business from the North West and are passionate about playing our part in developing it into a tech hub to rival other areas in the UK. That’s why we’re committed to maintaining innovative tech development and nurturing exceptional talent in region. With our team and customer base almost doubling in the last year alone, we needed a new space that reflected our phenomenal growth and that would nurture our innovative, dedicated and fun culture. Stockport is a thriving town and we’re pleased to be joining the burgeoning tech scene in our new home at Highbank House.”
On Stockport’s growing tech credentials, Rhys Owen commented:
“There is certainly a trend of companies moving from outside of Stockport into the town centre. It’s something that’s been bubbling away for five or so years but in the last couple of years it’s really taken off. Stockport continues to hit the headlines, for all the right reasons, offering exciting different opportunities. Town centres are changing and adapting to workplace and consumer demand, but no one wants all towns to look the same; Stockport is accepting of this and it’s seeing how its differences make it special and taking advantage of these.”
Stockport as a town has seen significant investment from both public and private sectors and grabbed a number of headlines in national press for the way the town has changed and reaped the rewards. The evidence of demand for commercial and residential property in the town centre is extremely strong; this latest notable deal comes only a few months after Orbit completed a £1 million pound scheme in the town centre, which was also taken by another tech company Digital ID.
