Stockport Council is continuing to deliver a series of improvements along the A6 Wellington Road South between Railway Road and Exchange Street.
The next stage of the work includes carriageway resurfacing along A6 Wellington Road South between Stockport Town Hall and St Petersgate.
This stage of the work is due to begin on Sunday 29th September and will take around two weeks to complete.
The resurfacing work will be undertaken during night time shifts to minimise disruption to day time traffic, between Sunday and Thursday nights from 8.00pm to 6.00am.During these times the following vehicle routes will be subject to a signed traffic diversion:
- Southbound traffic along A6 Wellington Road South between Leyland Street and Greek Street.
- Access to A6 Wellington Road South from John Street Junction, Norbury Street Junction, Wellington Street Junction and St Petersgate Junction.
A single lane for northbound traffic along the A6 Wellington Road South will be maintained at all times during resurfacing works.
To allow access at all times to Stockport Rail Station and Stockport Exchange junction closures will be necessary. The junction closures will be at Railway Road and Station Road with the A6 Wellington Road South to allow access via the alternate junction for northbound traffic.
The ‘No Entry’ Traffic Regulation Order in place along Station Road will be suspended during the works to allow access to Railway Road from Station Road.
