2018 marks the 6th anniversary of the #QueenOf and #KingOf day competitions started on Twitter by Stockport creative Aqua Design Group.
Inspired by his other social media wins, such as Theo Paphitis #SBS and Jacqueline Gold #MOM, Dylan Moore, owner of Aqua Design Group wanted something fun to help support small businesses and with a chance viewing of seeing the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant on tv and idea was born to first celebrate women in business with a weekly #QueenOf day competition which would run throughout the Jubilee year.

6th anniversary of the Royal Connection
This proved a surprise hit and the competition became a permanent fixture on Twitter after the Diamond Jubilee celebrations had ended, which was then followed by the #KingOf day competition for men in business.
From this Aqua Design Group then launched a winners website, where winners could set-up profiles about their businesses with website, social media links and images about their business. Not only that but winners only groups were also set-up on Facebook and LinkedIn and a monthly newsletter sharing advice and news from fellow winners.
Sentimental Keepsake, a #QueenOf winner wrote:
“I just wanted to say that winning my #QueenOf special keepsakes award and badge was a very special moment for me. To have my business recognised and appreciated means so much. Small business owners have such a rollercoaster ride especially if their business is their only means of income. I commend anyone that is going out there and doing it for themselves. As it’s not always easy, but one thing I’m sure of is with willpower, faith in yourself , dedication and the attitude that failure isn’t an option, even when times are tough then who knows where these qualities will take you. Dream big I say. Winning the award came at the right moment for me and made me feel proud and kept me on track. Its also great to be part of a lovely group of people who are on the same journey. So thank you so much Dylan and Andy for your hard work and the time that you give to all of us #QueenOf and #KingOf winners and winners to be. Your efforts and kindness are appreciated.”
To date, the competitions have crowned over 900 small businesses #QueenOf and #KingOf their industry, with the Facebook groups having over 400 winners and the hashtags being used across Twitter by winners to gain retweets and followers.
