A Stockport based design agency is Royally rewarding tweeting businesses as Queen Elizabeth II reaches her 90th birthday.
In 2012, Aqua Design were so inspired by the celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee they decided to start a competition on Twitter called #QueenOf day to celebrate women in business.
The competition proved so popular that it has continued ever since and grown to include #KingOf day to celebrate men in business on other social media platforms including Linkedin and Facebook.
It now includes a weekly networking hour on Twitter called #RoyalConnectionHour and a winners website that was launched in late 2014 which helps promote winners and their businesses outside of Twitter.
The competitions are run by the businesses promo Twitter account Andy Quinn @ADG_IQ and businesses send him a tweet about their business, be it #KingOf day every Tuesday 9am – 9pm or #QueenOf day every Thursday 9am – 9pm. Winners are chosen and re-tweeted across Aqua Design Group followers which are to date over 25,000 and welcomed and re-tweeted by past #QueenOf and #KingOf winners.
To date the business has crowned 496 businesses #QueenOf of their industry and 213 businesses #KingOf their industry.
This is what past winners have said about the competition:
Amshire Solutions, Stockport – “To begin with it’s simply a new shiny badge, but the retweets helps to expose winners to a wider audience. Since winning QueenOf and KingOf in 2014 it has given Amshire access to a very supportive network of fellow royals. The Royal Connection group works tirelessly to collectively raise the profile of all winners equally.
Since winning #QueenOf, #OrderOfFabulous and #KingOf Amshire have now connected with over 1,010 new businesses making many new friends along the way.
The business page on Royal connection is an absolute bonus too, showcasing all winners in one area.”
Geri Martin, The Chocolate Manor, Belfast – “I discovered the #RoyalConnection on twitter in 2014, and was impressed by this forward thinking way to promote small businesses.
“I was thrilled to win and to be named #QueenOf Bespoke Chocolate. Not only did I receive a personalized badge but this title opened up a network of wonderful, supportive entrepreneurs that I now treasure.
“I am proud to showcase my #QueenOf win as it was only through our network that that I became aware of Pitch@Palace with The Duke of York, and subsequently selected to showcase my work at St James’ Palace.
“Dylan Moore of Aqua Design is always working away in the background to support his winners and he is a pleasure to deal with. He even wrote a blog piece on my recent adventures www.aquadesigngroup.co.uk/when-the-queenof-bespoke-chocolate-met-the-royals
“I would encourage everyone to enter the #KingOf and #QueenOf competitions – It has been a real boost to my business.”
