Among the organisations in Stockport to benefit in this latest funding round is Greenspace Volunteers Stockport. The organisation which looks after parks and green recreational spaces across the town, was given £1,400 to fund new picnic tables, along with wood planters and gardening supplies. The group’s founder Chris Lightfoot said:
“This funding will allow us to take a positive step towards working with the local community, helping the residents to get more from their immediate wild space. It will provide a family friendly venue for children of all ages to enjoy.”
Other organisations in the borough to have been awarded funding in this latest round of grants from Manchester Airport’s Community Trust Fund include Walthew House, Hazel Grove British Legion, and Offerton Cricket Club.
Robert Pattison, Chair of the Community Trust Fund, said:
“The Community Trust Fund has now been running for more than 25 years and is one of the many ways in which we ensure that local communities share in the airport’s success. It was fantastic to be able to support such a broad range of applications at our latest meeting.
