As the 2015 Spark Business competition nears decision day, the final two short-listed businesses are hoping that their respective digital projects will win over the judges later today from sponsors Novomodo, Tangent Design, Souter PR, Clarke Nicklin, RBS and Gorvins.
An IT entrepreneur intends to take the mystery out of open source software and provide a modular package for small businesses while two creative entrepreneurs are hoping to craft an option for a level playing field in the digital arena so no one gets left behind.
Technology start-up Quarter is the brainchild of Hagen Kuehn who wants to launch a state-of-the-art modular and secure Customer Relationship Management system that allows customers to purchase only the licences they require along with a maintenance contract.
Hagen (left) said:
“I believe Quater has great potential in a rapidly growing market. It seeks to provide more innovative products than the competition, and I’m sure we can save our clients’ money and better safeguard their business assets.
“I want to sell innovative products and services, putting sophisticated open source software within the reach of small businesses around the world.”
Lee and Vinca Power (pictured below) are developing the Creativefront Digital Academy, a not-for-profit training provider, specialising in creative digital workshops and courses for people who are financially or socially disadvantaged.
Vinca Says:
“Talented individuals in the creative industries only need to understand the software and have a good portfolio to get a foot in the door. We want to break down preconceptions of the creative digital industry, and address the lack of creative job skills training outside of formal education.”
The winner of the Spark Business competition, organised by Stockport Council owned Stockport Business Innovation Centre (SBIC), can look forward to a package of support worth £15,000, announced this evening – Tuesday June 23rd – at an award ceremony at the SBIC in Broadstone Mill.
