Vernon Building Society’s Jubilee Fund has once again awarded £10,000 to charity and community groups in Stockport.
The society had 72 applications for the 2016 fund, with 20 finalists selected to receive funding. Readers of the Stockport Express collected an impressive number of tokens to support their chosen group – over 2,460 votes were cast in total meaning that each individual vote was worth just over £4.05.
The Vernon also announced that they will top-up donations to groups that received less than 37 votes, ensuring that every group receives a minimum of £150.
Details of the amount of funding that each group will receive can be found below:

Vernon’s Chief Executive, Mike Hanson, said: “We’ve had fantastic support for the Jubilee Fund which has meant that 20 local community causes can benefit from funding and publicity again this year. Many thanks to the Stockport Express readers who have really helped to make a difference in their local area.”
The 20 groups have all been invited to a presentation evening in November in recognition of their contribution to Stockport’s community.
