Friday saw the launch of the 100 Apprenticeships in 100 Days initiative at Aldi in Romiley. The initiative has been launched by Stockport Council alongside The National Apprenticeship Service and was launched at Aldi due to thier ongoing commitment and effective apprenticeship scheme.
Along with members of the Stockport business community was Sir Andrew Stunell OBE MP for Hazel Grove who gave his support for the initiative.
Over the past 2.5 years 400,000 apprenticeships have been launched in the UK. Stockport Council and NAS are looking to focus on Stockport businesses to provide opportunities across the wide and varied businesses in the borough – secure 100 apprenticeships in 100 days.
Aldi are one employer who have a robust and effective apprenticehsip scheme in place and are keen to help support the 100:100 in the Stockport area.
Offering apprenticeship schemes can help businesses fill skills gaps, help deliver specific required skills, provides practical on the job experience and provides high level of productivity.
As an employer the schemes provide grants of between £1,000 and £2,000 for businesses who take on a 16-24 year-old Stockport resident.
