Signpost Stockport for Carers is an independent local charity that has been supporting carers for over 30 years. If you live in Stockport, or care for someone who does, we are here for you.
A carer is anyone who provides help to a friend, neighbour, or family member who could not manage without support due to illness, disability, addiction, or age-related challenges. Many people don’t see themselves as carers; they’re “just helping” someone they love, but their contribution makes an enormous difference.
We believe carers of all ages, from 6 to 96, should be recognised, supported, and never left to feel alone. Carers do extraordinary work every day, and our mission is to help them in return.
Our services are designed to help both young and adult carers live as fulfilling a life as possible. These include Moneywise, which assists with budgeting, debt advice, and complex financial forms, and our counselling service, which offers one-to-one emotional support. We also run groups and activities to improve wellbeing, from therapeutic art to fun days out.
Our Young Carers Service offers school and family support, raises awareness of young carers, and creates opportunities for them to enjoy activities with peers, ensuring they still get the chance to experience a proper childhood.
With your help, we can continue making a real and lasting difference to carers across Stockport.
Thank you for being part of our journey, and for helping us be there for those who give so much to others.
