With ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ day just round the corner, WAS has been inviting nominations for its ‘Kindness in Stockport’ drive to spotlight the amazing people who make Stockport a warm and friendly place to live.
And today We are Stockport are announcing the 3 winners! Each winner will receive a meal for two in one of our fabulous cafes – Juniper in Bramhall; Café Lito in Stockport and Olive Café in Edgeley.
First prize goes to Arthur and Penny Dean, founders of Stockport’s Dwarf Sports Association, for their selfless commitment in championing dwarfism. You can read their story here.
Second is Vice Chair of SEND, Faye Keating, who despite holding down a demanding job as a nurse and looking after her own three children, gives all her spare time to helping other families in Stockport who are struggling – Faye’s story is here.
Finally Stockport Dynamoes Football Club based in Cheadle Heath, has been nominated by one of its volunteers as an amazing example of people giving their all. You can find out why they’ve been nominated here.
Rachel Wallace, Place Campaign Manager for We are Stockport, said it’s been a tough task selecting winners: “Kindness is a way of life that underpins many communities in Stockport. Choosing Stockport’s kindest people is almost impossible as each nomination we received was moving, highlighting the selfless people in Stockport who go the extra mile to help others out, often putting themselves last. It’s testament to our communities that we had such a hard time deciding on the winners. Special mention must also go to Denise Nicholls, pastoral manager at Stockport Academy, who tirelessly goes above and beyond the call of duty to support vulnerable pupils.”
