Stockport Council will be consulting with local businesses and members of the public on plans for a brand new multiplex cinema and leisure complex on the site of the Bridgefield car park in Stockport town centre.
Information about the regeneration plans for this part of the town centre will be available for comment in advance of a planning application being submitted by the Council in September 2014.

The Bridgefield development will see construction of a new multi-storey car park linking to the Debenhams and Merseyway car parks, creating around 350 spaces. A brand new multiplex cinema with up to eight ground floor units that will be let to food and beverage businesses, and the creation of a new public square and improvements to the public realm will link the new development to Merseyway and the wider town centre.
Cllr Patrick McAuley, Executive Member for Economic Development and Regeneration at Stockport Council said,
“This is another major step forward in our Investing in Stockport vision with Stockport town centre as the flagship for the area. I would strongly encourage people to attend one of the consultation events planned. We’re determined to improve facilities in the town centre so they reflect the needs of people and to do that we need input from as many residents, businesses and shoppers as possible.”
