Votes for the Jubilee Fund votes are in! The Vernon Building Society’s Jubilee Fund will be awarding £10,000 to local charity and community groups at a presentation evening taking place in early November.
The fund, set up in 2012, exclusively supports community
causes that benefit the Stockport area. There were over
100 applications submitted this year with 20 groups being
chosen to benefit.
Readers of the Stockport Express voted for their chosen
group to determine the share of the funding.
Nearly 3,000 votes were received in total with the largest
awards going to Stockport Foodbank, Stockport Foster
Carers Association and Stockport Cerebral Palsy Society
who will all receive in excess of £1,000.
A full list of organisations and the amounts they will
receive is available on the Vernon’s website.
Chief Executive of the Vernon, Mike Hanson said:
“This year’s Jubilee Fund has highlighted the great community spirit that we have in Stockport and the diversity of causes being supported. We had a huge response to the fund and we’re pleased that we can make a difference to these groups.”
