Another of Stockport’s charities to benefit from the Vernon Building Society 2012 Jubilee Fund is Mellor Country House, a charity which provides respite breaks to around 1,000 people per year who may not otherwise get the chance to holiday in the countryside due to financial hardship, mental health issues or difficult personal circumstances.
Last year saw £10,000 donated to local charity and community groups.

Mellor Country House received £1,000 from the Jubilee Fund to enable them to purchase a new boiler which led to a more efficient heating system and a reduction in ongoing costs to the charity.
Ian Keeling, Head of Sales and Marketing at the Vernon said:
“Mellor Country House impressed us with their existing fundraising effort towards the boiler. Our visit showed us how valuable this facility is, providing a peaceful and relaxing country break to individuals and families who are struggling to cope.”
Mellor Country House, based in Mellor, is a UK charity dedicated to providing respite breaks to groups, families, carers and individuals primarily from nearby urban areas. The charity’s aim is to provide a safe, secure, relaxing and uplifting environment for the financially and socially disadvantaged. www.mellorcountryhouse.co.uk/
