The Vernon Building Society in Stockport has announced the 20 local causes that will benefit from a share of £10,000 of funding from its Jubilee Fund and they include Marketing Stockport member Beechwood Cancer Care Centre.
Groups will be allocated a share of the £10,000 pot depending on how many tokens they receive that will be printed in the Stockport Express between August 10 and August 31.
Vernon chief executive Mike Hanson said: “Each year the shortlisting process is really difficult as there are so many worthwhile groups in Stockport helping others and we’re sorry that we can’t help them all.
“We’re pleased with the final 20 groups we have chosen and would urge Stockport Express readers to make their vote count and support a great local cause.”
The community and charity groups in the Stockport area chosen are:
- The Wellspring
- Beacon Counselling
- Beechwood Cancer Care
- The Furniture Station
- Jump Space
- Allotments Love Life
- Inspired Stockport CIC
- Pure Insight 1628
- Stockport SEND Families
- 15th Cheadle Hulme Brownies
- Chelwood Foodbank Plus
- Mary Sunley Canal Boat Trust
- Stockport CP Society
- Ebony and Ivory Community Organisation
- Stockport School Outreach
- Westbrook
- Brinnington Activity Group

This year’s programme will mean that since its launch in 2012 the Jubilee Fund will have awarded over £50,000 to more than 70 local charity and community groups.
Paul Harrison, Marketing Stockport news editor and former Stockport Express editor, said: “I was involved with the Jubilee Fund from day one and am so pleased to see it is still going and benefiting local groups.”
