Permanent vacancies grow and starting salaries rise at fastest rate since 2015 UK recruitment continues at pace and Stockport is no exception.
The latest report from IHS Markit and the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) confirms that permanent appointments continued to rise throughout third quarter, with year-on-year growth remaining sharp. IT & Computing is the most in-demand, but higher vacancy levels were seen in all sectors.
Across the North West, the outlook for jobs growth is positive.
With several Manchester-based organisations recently announcing volume recruitment campaigns to support continued growth plans, business investment in Stockport is at an all-time high.
Analysis of local labour market trends earlier this year revealed that almost 90% of businesses plan to hire new staff over the next year, according to a comprehensive salary report by business leaders across the borough. These findings are mirrored by the latest REC ‘Report on Jobs’.
Reflecting a surge in demand, the research found that starting salaries have risen at the fast rate since April 2015. Hourly rates for temporary staff also increased at a faster pace than in previous months.
Caroline Patten, Operations Director at Stockport-based Grassroots Recruitment comments,
“Wage rates are increasing due to high demand for permanent recruits, but Stockport employers are ready to respond. Employment across the borough is booming – supported by some fantastic businesses giving jobseekers every reason to work locally.”
This was evidenced at last week’s Stockport Business Awards, an event which celebrates the success and achievements of the region’s best businesses.
Grassroots Recruitment, awarded ‘Business of The Year (Turnover £1-5m)’, feels their success follows an incredible pace of growth in recent years due to an expanding Stockport client base.
