TV presenter and actress Denise van Outen hosted a golf day which raised £52,630 for Seashell Trust.
Some 20 teams played the inaugural Cardinal Maritime and SAMBRO golf day at The Mere Golf & Spa resort near Knutsford.
Seashell Trust is an Outstanding (Ofsted 2016) national centre of excellence based in Cheadle Hulme providing education and residential care for some of society’s most profoundly disabled children. All the young people have significant brain damage compounded by a combination of being deaf, blind, deafblind, having autism, epilepsy and physical disabilities.
Golf fan Denise teed off for a round alongside Brian Hay, CEO of Manchester logistics firm Cardinal and Tom Duffy, MD of SAMBRO, the licensed merchandise manufacturer based in Bury. The winning team was from Better Bathrooms.
The competition was followed by a gala dinner for 170 people, with Denise hosting the evening’s entertainment and charity auction.
Rachel McCrystal, from Seashell Trust, said:
“Thank you very much to Cardinal and SAMBRO and their colleagues and suppliers for raising an incredible amount. It will fund a class room in our new school and help to transform the lives of some of the country’s most profoundly disabled children and young people.”
The classroom will be named the Cardinal Sambro classroom.
A Seashell Trust parent Nicola Bottley talked to the guests about her young children’s conditions and how Seashell was a key part in improving the lives of all her family.
Tom Duffy, MD at SAMBRO, said:
“As well as making lots of money, it was also a great way to highlight the great work the Seashell Trust do as well as having a fun (albeit extremely competitive) day and evening with colleagues and customers.”
Brian Hay, CEO of Cardinal Group, said:
“It was a great way to bring our suppliers and clients together and raise money for such a worthy cause, right on our doorstep. Having one of the parents there to share their story and let people know just how important the work that Seashell Trust was vital to the evening’s success.”
