Three of Stockport’s Best Not For Profit organisations are hoping to be winners at this years Stockport Business Awards.
The awards, now in its 6th year, were set up by Clarke Nicklin Chartered Accountants back in 2012 to recognise and reward business excellence in the town.
The Best Not for Profit Award is sponsored by Ashcroft Creative Design, the team behind Stockport Business Awards branding. The shortlisted organisations are Millies Trust, Pure Insight and St Ann’s Hospice.
Millie’s Trust was created by the parents of Millie Thompson who tragically passed away in a choking incident in October 2012. Millie’s Trust allows individuals to attend a First Aid course at the lowest possible cost. They also provide a 12-hour Paediatric course for nurseries to ensure more nursery staff become trained. The current requirement for childcare settings is that one paediatric first aid trained person must be available when children are present. However, Millie’s Trust want this to change, and they award Millie’s Mark as a special endorsement to childcare providers that go above and beyond by having 100% of staff fully trained.
Pure Insight was formed in January 2013 as a direct response to the unmet needs of local care leavers. The charity works to support young people leaving the care of a local authority and looked after children. They provide a service offering a variety of activities to help build coping strategies and develop skills to help this group of young people progress towards a successful independent life. By directly involving young people in the design and delivery of their projects they allow them to access the help and advice they need to solve problems, overcome barriers, improve health and wellbeing, gain confidence and move forward with their lives.
St Ann’s Hospice were founded in 1971 and have been caring for patients with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones ever since. Their purpose is to provide excellent care and support to people living with or affected by life-limiting illnesses. St Anns Hospice have four values: inclusive, professional, compassionate, respectful. Anyone coming into contact with St Ann’s, whether as a service-user, supporter, staff member or shop customer, will experience this extraordinary level of care and professionalism.
The Stockport Business Awards is organised by accountancy practice Clarke Nicklin, and headline sponsors are high profile businesses from the region; Gorvins Solicitors and Orbit Developments.
