Cheadle-based finance company Together is celebrating success after winning ‘Excellence in CSR’ at the Stockport Business Awards.
A business with an impressive 43-year history, Together provides finance to a wide range of customers; from homebuyers and property investors to businesses and entrepreneurs. Alongside this, however, the group has a strong commitment to giving back to the community and last year launched its ‘Let’s make it count’ initiative.
Spanning charity, community and the environment, the programme sees the company’s 550-plus colleagues participating in local causes. Their efforts were rewarded at Stockport’s annual awards celebration for local businesses, held at Stockport Town Hall, when Together won the ‘Excellence in CSR’ award for corporate social responsibility.
Together’s HR director Kevin Fisher explains:
“The business has always done a lot of work with charity and the community; but given the level of growth we’ve experienced in recent years, we wanted to put more emphasis on this, to make even more of an impact. We set up Let’s Make it Count last year, with six core groups – all run by volunteers and supported by the business – and the response from our colleagues has been phenomenal.
“We’ve carried out a host of amazing activities, with fundraising events including the National Three Peaks Challenge and the Great Manchester Run. We hosted a call centre for Comic Relief with over 100 volunteers, we set up our own foodbank, we launched an enterprise scheme to local schools, we mentored disadvantaged youngsters, we volunteered for the National Trust and other charities, and much more. It’s only made possible because of the passion and commitment of our colleagues, so this award is very much for them.”
The judges said:
“This is a well-deserved award for Together who are involved in a huge amount of CSR activity in the local area and are a fantastic example of how to do it right!”
