The much-loved licensees have called time at the Arden Arms in Stockport after almost two decades behind the bar.
Stockport’s Arden Arm’s, situated on the edge of Stockport’s historic market place, has been in the caring hands of licensee couple, Joe Quinn and Steve King. However, both will now be taking a step back from their treasured pub for their retirement.
The Arden Arms will be celebrating their time at the pub with a long weekend of final leaving events from the 11th-13th August.
Joe Quinn, licensee at the Arden Arms, said:
“Myself and my partner, Steve, have been licensees at the Arden for almost eighteen years. We are so pleased with our journey and of everything we have achieved for the pub. We have always made sure that our customers feel welcome and included, and that the pub is a place where everybody can feel safe and have a sense of belonging. We will be sad not to play an active role at the pub anymore; but it will remain in our hearts forever.”
Joe and Steve have created an array of precious memories during their course at the pub, winning a string of well-deserved awards along the way for their excellent quality of beer and food, pub décor, value for money and exceptional customer service. The Arden was voted Greater Manchester’s Regional Pub of the Year in the 32nd edition of the Good Beer Guide published by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), and was additionally selected as ’Pub of the Year’ for the Manchester Food and Drink Festival back in 2008.
Steve continued:
“Working for the Arden Arms has taught myself and Joe invaluable life lessons over the years, and we can honestly say that we have loved every minute of it. We are very proud of the awards we have won over the years, and we would like to say a big thanks to Robinsons, our loyal staff and our customers who have continued to show nothing but love and passion for the Arden. We have made some great friends here who we won’t be forgetting in a hurry!”
The long weekend of final leaving events from the 11th-13th August includes live band performances, delicious Robinsons’ ales and a selection of bites to eat.
On Friday 11th August, The Casual Ties will be performing at the Arden, where customers can enjoy fresh oven baked pizza served in the courtyard.
On Saturday 12th August, The Arden Arms will host a bustling barbecue, with The Vehicle band performing on stage.
Sunday 13th August boasts jazz band, Louisiana Highway, who will be performing some of their best hits from 3pm-6pm. Joe and Steve would like to welcome all to join in on the fun.
