Thomas Cook is backing the Charity fashion event ‘Runway on the Runway’ when it returns to Manchester Airport on the 27th March after the inaugural event in 2013 raised over £40,000.
Sponsored by Thomas Cook Airlines, the second Runway on the Runway fashion show is the brainchild of North West Teenage Cancer Trust Ambassador, Margo Cornish. The sparkling occasion is aimed at encouraging young people in the North West to become switched on to the early signs of cancer, an area that research carried out by the TCT has shown to be one of the lowest levels of awareness in the UK.

11 schools and colleges from across the region will have the chance to organise, produce and take to a unique catwalk under the legendary wings of Concorde.
Margo Cornish said:
“Around 500 young people are diagnosed with cancer each year in the North West and greater awareness leads to speedier diagnosis and better prognosis. The theme of the show is prom, which is the most anticipated event on most young people’s social calendar, it’s a sort of coming of age, a time to get dressed up and feel like an adult. So what better way to capture the attention of this important key demographic and get the important health message across at the same time.
“The event provides pupils with the opportunity to get unique on the job experience with which can provide a huge boost to their CVs and university applications.”
The fashion show is supported by some top national and international brands. Involved in this year’s event are Sherri Hill who sends dresses direct from the USA, Little Mistress, Coast, BCBG, Lipsy, Manchester fashion brand Boohoo.com, Mori-Lee, Quiz, Kurt Geiger and local celebrity designer Vicky Martin.
The show also gives a platform for unknown designers to present their talent. Boys too can take to the catwalk with formalwear being donated from Marks & Spencer, via its flagship store at Handforth Dean. Beauty and hair will be represented by Harvey Nichols, Manchester & Trevor Sorbie respectively.
The highlight of the show will be the Teenage Cancer Trust Catwalk where a group of current and former young oncology patients get their own chance to strut down the Concorde Catwalk in a powerful show of unity and strength.
