The Prince of Orange, Ashton under Lyne, has received a royal upgrade in what marks Robinsons’ final pub refurbishment for 2014.
The Stockport based brewer has transformed over 20 pubs throughout the year with a further 35 pubs from their 300 strong pub estate set to receive a makeover in 2015.
Neil Robinson-Stanier, Director of Robinsons Brewery said:
“It’s been a big year for everyone at Robinsons. Our design team has excelled and created some of the most innovative and talked about designs that Robinsons has ever seen and The Prince of Orange’ is no exception.”
The pub, which closed for 4 weeks, has been improved with a clean, contemporary design that creates a feeling of space whilst remaining true to the pub’s community roots.
Several of the design choices feature a homage to Ashton’s former Barrett Minerals bottling plant on Dean Street including original brass bulk head light fittings, vintage timber woodwork tools, glass bottles and earthenware jars.
Commenting on the new look, Roger Hantulik, tenant of The Prince of Orange said:
“When Robinsons approached me and I saw the design I thought the way they had incorporated local Ashton heritage in their design choices was a really nice touch. We are a community pub through and through and the features are nostalgic to a lot of our regulars.”
The most striking transformation occurred by changing the former pool room into a traditional pub snug, complete with feature fire place, luxurious tartan carpet and deep buttoned dark blue leather fixed seating.
The kitchen and dining area also received a full make over with the addition of bi-folding doors allowing the room to open up into the main lounge whilst maintaining the option to use the room for small private functions.
Roger said:
“The refurbishment has allowed us to introduce of our new carvery. We’ve never served one alongside our full menu before so this really is a big step for us. So far the feedback has been incredible, after all, everyone loves a good Sunday lunch, no matter what day of the week!”
In the cellar, Robinsons’ world class technical services spotted an opportunity and have helped reduce beer wastage by re-sitting the remote cooler closer to the bar area. With an estimated 30 pints being lost during weekly line cleans, the cellar service has helped save the pub an estimated 1560 pints per year meaning more award-winning Robinsons beer for everyone!
Wayne Roach, Business Development Manager for Robinsons Brewery said:
“The Prince of Orange is a great community pub with a large following of loyal regulars. Everyone involved from the cellar service team, who usually have to brave the elements to ensure that the bar is up and running on time, to our retail marketing and property teams have been outstanding. It’s been a very busy year for everyone at the brewery and The Prince of Orange is the perfect pub to end the year on a high.”
Closing, Roger said:
“The design has turned out even better than I expected and has really changed the way people look at our pub. We have had fantastic feedback so far from regulars and we are seeing many more first timers come through our doors. It’s a great way to end 2014!”
The Prince of Orange is now open, serving award-winning Robinsons ales, honest pub grub and daily carvery.
