Cheadle-based creative agency The fresh Group (fresh) has undertaken a project of a different nature with long-term client, Isle of Man Post Office.
To celebrate Her Majesty the Queen, and mark some of the most important ceremonial occasions dur- ing her long reign, Isle of Man Post Office approached fresh to design a set of eight celebratory stamps, due for release on June 18.
A series of stamp designs were created by fresh following interpretation of the Post Office’s design brief which offered a flexible approach allowing the agency to select the ceremonial occasions, respective images of the Queen and accompanying text. Finally, the best designs were chosen for use in the stamp issue.
The set of eight opulent stamps picture Queen Elizabeth II in some of her finest ceremonial occasions during her long reign, and includes Her Majesty’s Coronation, the Investiture of Prince Charles, Troop- ing the Colour, The Diamond, Gold and Silver Jubilees, The State opening of Parliament and Order of the Garter. Each individual occasion is inscribed on every stamp in a metallic gold ink. The stamp collection is named Pomp and Circumstance to demonstrate the essence of these ceremonial occasions.
Lisa Duckworth, Isle of Man Post Office Commercial Director said: “We are delighted with the stamp designs produced by fresh for this prestigious stamp issue. We have worked with fresh for a number of years now across a variety of creative projects but until now we’d never commissioned them to design any of our stamp issues. We were therefore pleased when they took us up on our challenge of producing this issue and are delighted with the outcome, the stamps look stunning.” Lisa continues: “The Isle of Man Post Office is proud to celebrate the long reign of Queen Elizabeth II, Lord of Mann, the Island’s Lord Proprietor and Head of State, and mark her main ceremonial occasions over the years.”
Becky Ward, fresh Group Account Director commented: “When Isle of Man Post Office first approached us with a design brief to create a set of stamps that celebrate Her Majesty during her long reign we felt very privileged to be associated with such a project. We were also excited by the creative
challenge this presented.” Becky continues: “It’s great to know the stamps will be around for many years to come with collectors, as well as being used on a daily basis, and we are looking forward to the stamps being released.”
