Transport for Greater Manchester – TfGM – are inviting Stockport businesses to the latest free workshop from TfGM’s Sustainable Journeys team.
Taking the car is often necessary for commuting or business travel, but there are ways of significantly reducing car use whilst maintaining the convenience and flexibility that a car offers.
Earlier this year, the Mayor of Greater Manchester launched the ‘Congestion Deal’ to address congestion across Greater Manchester.
The ‘Congestion Deal’ is a new approach to tackling congestion, where public bodies and operators are challenged to offer people more choice in their travel options, businesses are encouraged to support their employees to work more flexibly, and people are actively encouraged to change their travel behaviour.
On Thursday 29 November, we will examine how we can all play our part in helping to tackle congestion on our roads via car sharing and car clubs.
This workshop will focus on:
- Car Sharing: where it works best and how to make it work for you. We’ll also look at the resources available to you. There will be a presentation from a business that has successfully implemented car sharing amongst its employees.
- Car Clubs: what they are and how they work, the benefits for business, their use for business travel and how they can cut down on business and commuting car mileage. Manchester operator Enterprise Car Club will explain the opportunities available in this area.
The workshop is aimed at businesses with:
- High car usage
- Restricted car parking
- Regular or shift working patterns
- A desire to cut down on grey fleet use but continue to require vehicles for business purposes.
Join TfGM in helping to make travel easier for everyone.
