Support your local club as Stockport County bid for promotion as they secured their 5th place on Saturday and will be in at home in the first of the play-offs this Wednesday evening.
Stockport County are now assured of a home play-off quarter final on Wednesday night when they will take on Chorley at Edgeley Park. Kick off is at 7.45 p.m. and the club are hoping for a bumper crowd to get behind the team.
County fans are calling the people of Stockport to make the effort to turn up and show them support. Which ever club you usually follow, take a night off and show your support to your town’s club. Get down to Edgeley Park and help spur the County team on to victory!!
Saturday saw a huge 6160 fans visit for the final league game of the season, and with 275 of those on hospitality, it was very much like old times at the ground. This figure sets another new record for attendance at this level (County now hold the top three records!)
Director Steve Bellis commented:
As a club, we have worked incredibly hard to get things back on track, both financially and on the pitch.
“All the hard work we have put in over the last three or four years is now beginning to show its rewards and we are just a few games away from moving back up the league and in the right direction. It would be great to give our superb fans and loyal sponsors something to really cheer about, if we can do it.
I would urge everybody in the town to get behind us in the play-offs as, with the home crowd being like a twelfth man, it really can make all the difference.”
Commercial Manager, Simon Dawson also added
No matter what your usual colours, it is important to have a successful football club at the heart of the town and we hope that people will put down their usual scarves and pick up the County colours for the next week or two, give us their support and help us in our promotion quest”
The play-off Quarter Final is a one-legged match, and there will be a winner on the night. Details of the away Semi Final tie on Sunday 6th of May will be published in due course if County win on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, for the 7.45pm kick-off on Wednesday 2nd May, fans should be mindful that we are expecting a large crowd, and we strongly recommend that you purchase your ticket in advance of the day of the match – Sunday and Monday are best, see below.
