It was a great success as lively debate echoed around the Stockport Town Hall ballroom when the BBC hosted Question Time in Stockport.
Host David Dimbleby was joined by panellists Damian Green MP (First Secretary of State, Conservative), Angela Rayner MP (Shadow Education Secretary, Labour), Fraser Nelson (Editor of The Spectator), Professor Sarah Churchwell and Michelle Dewberry (Businesswoman and former The Apprentice winner) for the BBC’s popular topical debate show.
In true Question Time form, the audience from across Stockport and the surrounding areas were given the opportunity to get their questions answered by the panel.
Discussions ranged from university tuition fees to investment in housing and transport, with passionate exchanges taking place between audience members and the panel.
Organised by Stockport Events in conjunction with the production company Mentorn Media, the beautiful ballroom at Stockport Town Hall was a stunning setting for Question Time and shone a spotlight on our town. This is just one of the successful events hosted by Stockport Events in the past few months across their venues including weddings; the popular Jobs Fair and Gin Jamboree.
Councillor David Sedgwick, Cabinet Member for Reform and Governance at Stockport Council said:
“It was great to see BBC Question Time coming from Stockport. Our ballroom looked stunning and it was an honour for our Town Hall to be chosen as the setting for one of the BBC’s flagship programmes. We look forward to welcoming the Question Time back again in the future.”
